2010 World Juniors coming to Weyburn
The City of Weyburn in partnership with the Weyburn Minor Hockey Association and the Weyburn Red Wings Hockey Club will be hosting Sweden vs. Switzerland for the pre-competition game on Wednesday, December 23 at 7:00 pm, at Crescent Point Place .

Both Sweden and Switzerland will have high caliber players playing in the pre-competition game. The team from Sweden is expected to include eight players that were drafted by National Hockey League (NHL) teams in the first round of the last two NHL entry drafts, including six from the 2009 draft. The six first round picks include: defensemen Oliver Ekman Larsson (6th overall, Phoenix Coyotes), David Runbald (17th, St. Louis Blues) and Tim Erixon (23rd, Calgary Flames), and forwards Magnus Paajarvi Svensson (10th, Edmonton Oilers), Jacob Josefson (20th, New Jersey Devils) and Marcus Johansson (24th, Washington Capitals). Also expected to be playing will be forward Mattias Tedneby (24th, New Jersey Devils in 2008), goaltender Jacob Markstrom (31st, Florida Panthers in 2008) and defensemen Adam Larsson (eligible for 2011 draft).
The team from Switzerland is expected to include defensemen Luca Sbisa (19th, Philadelphia Flyers in 2008), currently playing for Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Western Hockey League (WHL), who played in the NHL this season with the Anaheim Ducks and has played 47 games in the NHL over the past two seasons. Sbisa has the most NHL experience of any player attending the 2010 World Junior Championship. Also expected to be playing is forward Nino Niederreiter, currently playing in the WHL for the Portland Winterhawks, and is expected to be a first round draft pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft.

All of the items will be posted on the event website at www.weyburn.ca starting on December 2 and will be on display in the lobby at Crescent Point Place during the December 4 and 5 Weyburn Red Wing home games and the pre-competition game on December 23. September 20, 2009
9:00am - 1:00pm
Weyburn Comp Highschool
** No Pre-Registration. . just show up
*** Make sure all officials have their Sask Health Card
**** Clinic Fee is $25.00 (Must be paid that day)
* Officials must attend the entire clinic
** To officiate in WMHA officials must be playing PeeWee level hockey
This year the SHA has adopted a new format for clinics. Officials can participate by completing an on-line section of the clinic before they attend the clinic in Weyburn. Once they complete the section on line they will have'
to print off a completion form and present it to the clinic staff. If this is done officials will only have to attend the clinic for 1/2 the day. Failure to complete the on-line version will mean that the official must attend the full day.
On-line information can be found at the new SHA Hockey Officials website
On Ice Clinics for Officials
WMHA will conduct two on ice clinics during the month of October. One will be with JR officials and the second will be for SR officials
Check the WMHA website for further details

This year the association will adopt an incentive program for officials participating in WMHA. Once a official

Once finalized the games and program will be posted
