Weyburn Minor Hockey Associations
Parents & Fan Code of Conduct
Parents can be a great asset to a youth hockey team, as well as a positive influence on the children around them. We as an association realize parents have many responsibilities and we encourage them to carry them out in a positive manner. Please be a positive role model. It shall be the responsibility of the President, WMHA Executive Members, Coaches, and Managers to administer promote and, when necessary, enforce the Parent's Code of Ethics. Parents who have violated any of the below conditions may have to answer to the Weyburn Minor Hockey executive for possible disciplinary action.
- I will always remember that the game is for the children and not the adults
- Uninvited entry to opposition teams dressing room is strictly prohibited.
- Uninvited entry into the official’s dressing room is strictly prohibited.
- I will refrain from discussing game situations with coaches and referees for 24 hours after game time. This will allow me to cool down a little bit.
- If I have a problem with the conduct of a coach, player, or team official I will bring it to the attention of the WMHA Executive.
- If I have a problem with the conduct, not judgment of an official, I will bring it to the attention of the WMHA Referee in Chief.
- If I feel my child is not playing in a safe and positive environment, I will contact a club official and have them look into the matter and not take matters into my own hands. This includes but not limited to players, coaches, officials and other parent
- I will not verbally abuse any on ice official, coach or player from the stands or lobby.
- I will support the organization's rules and regulations that will be set forth by the organization at the beginning of the season. This includes, but is not limited to, missed practices and games, profanity, on and off ice actions and suspensions of my child.
- I understand that lack of awareness or misunderstanding of an ethical standard listed on this document is not a defense to the objectionable conduct.
- I understand that I can be held responsible for my actions, which may result in removal from the arena, suspensions and even suspension of your child.
