- Referee will take up normal position for the ensuing face off
- Referee will then look at the VISITING TEAM players bench and allow a 5 second period where the visiting team may make a change
- The referee will then raise his arm which means the visiting team may not make any further changes
- With the arm raised, the referee will look at the HOME TEAM bench and allow them to make a change
- The referee shall then drop his arm, which means no team may make any further changes
- If a team attempts to make a change, the referee shall order the changing player back to the bench
- If a violation occurs, a warning can be given to the captain (only one warning a game) Further violations will result in a bench minor
- A second change of any one player on the same stoppage is not allowed unless a penalty is called causing them to be short handed
This procedure must be used every stoppage of play
